Meanwhile, the number of apps developed by Nepali developers in play store has reached more than a thousand in number. Android is the No. 1 mobile operating system by Google with 1.2 million + apps and 5 billion + apps downloads. We have collected some popular android applications especially targted to Nepali users:

1. Load Shedding Schedule: This app is developed by Chandra and Eliza which is the most downloaded app built by Nepali. As Nepal is suffering from a huge powercut problem, the app is obviously more popular. The app which is approved by Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) also facilitates the user to receive alert notification before and after loadshedding of specified group at the specified duration.

This app provides complete info about date in Bikram Sambat (BS) and Iswi Sambat (AD) to holidays to many cultural and religious celebrations by people of various casts residing in different places featuring in both Nepali Unicode and English language. Latest foreign exchange is also featured on latest update.

3. Radio Nepali: Via this app in Google Play Store, you can enjoy 150+ radio stations in Nepal right on your Android device. Radio Nepali has made radio fans much easier to listen radio programs from any part of the world on single click.

4. Nepali News: Now the time to open all nepali news portal for browsing news is over. This app allows easy access to numerous Nepali Online News portals like: Ekantipur, BBC Nepali Service, Himalayan Times, My Sansar, Mero Report Blog and many more to serve nepali news at your fingertips.

5. KTM Taxi Meter: Realising the fact that some taxi drivers charging unreasonable fares for taxi passengers, some students of Kathmandu University has developed the taxi fare app which can calculate the total fare to pay to the driver by calculating the total distance travelled using Android phone’s GPS.

6. Nepali National Anthem: Though the app is not that much popular but you can download it to listen Nepali National Anthem “Sayau Thunga Fool Ka Hami …….” with lyrics both in English and Nepali Font. It also features national anthems of other countries as well.
