NT Introduces Fibre To The Home Broadband Connection

Nepal Telecom (NT) has introduced Fibre To The Home next generation network based on optical fibre to provide customers with high-speed broadband Internet and other value added services.

Currently, the service is available around Durmarg, Kamaladi, Kathmandu plaza and Jamal areas in first phase and the state owned telecom company is working to expand to around 35 palces inside Kathmandu valley along with Bharatpur, Pokhara, Birgunj, Biratnagar & Butwol outside valley.

With introduction of the latest technology, optical fibre will replace the current copper cable network in the interested customers’ residence. There needs a Customer Premise Equipment (CPE), a multi-featured device price ranging from 10,000-20,000 equipped with four RJ-45 ethernet interface and two RJ-11 telephone interfaces for creating connection between user and distribution point for data and voice communication. The registration charge is fixed Rs 500 and the cable costs Rs 60 per meter.
