Kamini Rajbhandari appointed as NT MD, the first female

The government has appointed Kamini Rajbhandari as Nepal Telecom‘s  MD for the next three years. Her tenure can be extended for additional two years on the basis of her work performance. This is the first time state owned telecom operator NT got a female chief.

The selection committee coordinated by Secretary of Ministry of Information and Communication had recommended three names to Cabinet, Madan Kharel former MD of Nepal Airlines Corporation, Sunil Pokhrel and Kamini Rajhandari. And the cabinet made a decision to appoint Rajbhandari as NT MD.

Kamini Rajbhandari has served in NT for thirty years shouldering the different responsibilities including Senior Deputy managing director. Rajbhadari who started working for NT since 1985, is also a chief technical officer in NT. She holds a degree in MBA and Management of Technology.

This is the first time MD of NT has been selected from open competition. The vacancy was announced on July 9 and 13 had applied for the post of MD. The selection committee had shortlisted six names out of 13.
