India banned Chinese Phone

India banned to import and sale Chinese smartphone in Indian market. A court order restrained emerging Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi to sale its smartphone product in Indian market. After an interim order from Delhi High Court Xiaomi and Flipkart, Indian popular shopping online has to stop sales in India. The court order is a consequence of technology infringing mobile phone technology patented by Ericsson.

After court order Xiaomi or its agents, sole distributors in India cannot assemble, import and offer sale its devices in Indian market. Ericsson has filed a plea in court that Xiaomi has been violating its eight patents pertaining to AMR, EDGE and 3G technologies in the field of telecommunications. Court also ordered Xiaomi and its agents in India to indicate in the affidavit the revenue earned by selling these devices till date.

Xiaomi is popular in India as it is in China as Chinese iPhone. With surprise Xiaomi established itself as the world’s third largest smartphone vendor following Samsung, the Korean smartphone maker and Apple, American smartphone maker. According to Strategy Analytics Xiaomi secured 18 percent marketshare in 3rd quarter of 2014.
