Are only females crazy about taking a selfie ? You are probably incorrect if you thought yes. Men above 30 post more selfies than women. It might sound quite weird but the statement is correct according to the study. According to IBNLIVE posting a selfie after age 40 is pretty much a global taboo, but in the over-30s, more men post selfies on Instagram than women.
Reportedly, the team behind Selfiecity project that analyses thousands of Instagram pics from New York, London, Berlin, Moscow, Bangkok and Sao Paulo, studied 3,840 public photos — 640 for each city — to find that just four percent of the pictures on Instagram were actual selfies.
Thenextweb.com reported that more than 80 percent of selfies tagged in Moscow were taken by women, compared to just 55 percent in Bangkok, where the guys were clearly more cool about snapping a nice pic to show the world. Young women were the major posters of selfies in all the five major cities. But female selfies were particularly abundant, and the women were particularly young, in Moscow.
The team combined AI analysis using the Orbeus ReKognition API with help from Amazon’s Mechanical Turks to try to help them establish the mood, pose, and different features, like whether people are wearing glasses.
Combining different attributes, they found that just three men in the dataset were aged over 40, live in New York City and do not wear glasses.
According to the database, across the world it’s happy or calm over grumpy, keeping our eyes open and our mouths closed.
