The process to buy internet bandwidth from China has reached its final stage. To boost internet connectivity, Nepal Telecom is buying bandwidth from China Telecom within this Asadh (July). NT has already laid down the optical fibre to Rasuwagadhi point via Galchhi of Dhading district and Dhunche of Rasuwa district.
‘The process to sign bandwidth agreement with China Telecom is in its last stage; once the agreement is done, its price will also be finalized’ says Prativa Baidhya, Spokesperson of NT. Though there have been speculations about internet rate would be cheaper once the bandwidth purchase is finalized, Baidhya says nothing can’t be said as the agreement is yet to be done.
Currently, Nepal solely depends on India for internet bandwidth. Once the purchase is finalized, it would break the monopoly of India over internet bandwidth.
