The internet bandwidth charge paid by Nepali internet service providers declined by nearly 8% from last fiscal year. Though the customers count increased by over 30% in 2013/14, the internet fee fell to NPR 2.39 billion from 2.59 last year.
The internet bandwidth price is directly dependent on global internet market price which also decreased for the time. Shifting network from satellite to an optical fibre for network connection also assisted to the cost for Nepali operators.
With the increasing trend of smartphone and availability of various options for internet usage, the internet consumption is going up significantly. Currently, there is a dozen of internet service providers among which Ncell and Nepal Telecom (NT) paid as much as 2 billion to get connected to the world.
